TULSA (FOX 23) Tulsa Public Schools is doing what it can to help students deal with the loss of a classmate. Grief counselors will be available for students and staff at McLain Jr. High following the death of 7th grade student, Richard Brown.

According to emergency crews, the boy and his brother were running late on the way to school around 8 a.m. and cut across the train tracks near 2200 N. Lewis.

Police tell us the 12-year old slipped and fell on the tracks and was hit by the slow moving train. Officials say the train was going less than 10 miles per hour and stopped after 140 feet.

As part of a statement released yesterday, Tulsa Public Schools says, "Our hearts go out to the family and friends of this young man and the students at McLain as they struggle to come to terms with this terrible loss. We will have grief counselors on hand today to help our students and staff at McLain, and will do everything we can to be of help to them."
