TULSA (KFAQ) The Tulsa Public School District has received a supply of the H1N1 vaccine and will be distributing it free of charge to students and staff at selected schools.

Officials say this distribution is in addition to schools already slated to receive the vaccine by the Tulsa Health Department.

As additional supplies arrive, TPS health officials will identify more schools to target for vaccination.

Pam Butler, the district's health director, said she and other district administrators have been tracking the flu since it fist appeared. Butler said she early on requested from both state and county health officials a supply of the vaccine. County health officials say TPS is the only district in their region to request the vaccine.

"I knew this was an issue that was impacting children and keeping them as healthy as possible is my ultimate mission," Butler said.
