TULSA (FOX 23) Tulsa Public Schools is once again considering uniforms for all high school students. It was a hot topic at Tuesday's school board meeting.
The board heard about ten different speakers last night, some for and some against school uniforms for high school students. Right now only a few high schools have uniforms: East Central, McLain and Rogers. But leaders at TPS believe uniforms at all high schools could cut down on bullying.
Students we talked to are on the fence about the idea.
"It gives the school a better look, a more professional look," said student Willie Hill.
"Some people don't like looking like everybody else," said Bradlee Wells.
Each school would have its own colors for the uniforms, similar to middle schools and elementary schools.
Last July, TPS Superintendent Dr. Keith Ballard struck high schools from a proposal for district-wide uniforms after getting a number of negative responses from parents and students. However, the board did vote in favor of uniforms for all middle and elementary schools, giving parents just a few weeks to stock up.
The board will vote on whether or not there should be uniforms for high school students on Feb. 6. TPS says assistance would be provided for families who can't afford uniforms.
