TULSA (FOX 23) Former Oral Roberts University President, Richard Roberts was released early Tuesday morning from the Tulsa County Jail after being picked up on a DUI complaint.
According to an arrest and booking report, Roberts was driving along US 169 near 71st street around midnight. An OHP trooper clocked Roberts' Mercedes going 93mph in a 65mph zone, and pulled him over.
A report from the Tulsa Co. Jail indicates the trooper smelled a strong odor of alcohol and administered a horizontal gaze sobriety test which Roberts was unable to follow directions, according to the trooper. The report says Roberts was taken to the Jenks Police Department where he submitted to a breathalyzer test and blew .11, which is over the legal limit of .08.
Roberts was arrested just after midnight Tuesday and taken to Jenks police department, then he was transferred to the Tulsa County Jail and booked by 2:45am on DUI and speeding complaints. He was released from jail by 7am.
Roberts' father, ORU founder Oral Roberts, would have been 94 years old today. Oral Roberts died in 2009.
