Man Sentenced in Oklahoma Sex Case

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A Nevada man who pleaded guilty to traveling to Oklahoma to have sex with an 8-year-old girl has been sentenced to nearly 20 years in federal prison.

A federal district judge in Oklahoma City handed down the 235-month sentence on Wednesday for 57-year-old Richard Alan Epperson of Reno, Nevada.

Epperson pleaded guilty in September to traveling across state lines for the purpose of engaging in sex with a person he believed to be an 8-year-old girl.

Epperson's attorney, Richard Stout, did not immediately return a telephone message seeking comment.

Prosecutors say Epperson became acquainted with an Oklahoma City-area woman through a social networking Web site and told her he was interested in having sex with a young girl. The woman cooperated with the FBI.
